Summer is here, which means it is the perfect time to spruce up your home decor for the season! If even the thought of decorating intimidates you, don't worry; there is no need to be a professional interior designer to pull off these easy tricks.

1. White Basics

Updating your wall color or furniture to a crisp white is more welcoming to natural light - a summer favorite. You can add different hues of cream colors to complement the white and create a clean, fresh look for the season.

2. Bright Accent Colors

Adding pops of color throughout your home can get you in the mood for summer. Bright colors can be incorporated in place settings, pillows, decorative dishes, artwork and much more. A good starting point is to contrast the colors you already have - lighten your light colors and darken your dark colors

3. Airy Window Treatments

It is time to lose those heavy drapes you have around your home and swap them with something light and airy. Brightly hued, lightweight curtains are perfect for creating a comfortable summer space.

4. Freshly Picked Flowers

Believe it or not, flowers are not only meant for special occasions. It is now the perfect time of year to display fresh cut flowers in your home. Bonus points if you can cut them from your own garden!

5. Art Swap

When revamping your home for summer, think about replacing some of the artwork with colorful pieces, especially if you have dark walls. Swapping your artwork throughout the year to match the season si a great way to keep your home looking fresh and fun.

6. Summer Scents

We sometimes forget that. candles and plug-ins are not just for the winter. Although scents like "gingerbread cookie" and "cinnamon apple" are fantastic for that time of year, you do not necessarily want to use them during the summer. Scents with flower or beach vibes are best. It is also a prime opportunity to open up your windows and let Mother Nature air out your home - especially if you just cut the grass!

7. Set Up Outside Hangout Area

Whether it be your back deck, a patio or even your front porch, setting up a space where you can relax outside is ideal. There are endless options for setting up your outdoor space. First, figure out how to best utilize the space you have. Think about what kind of furniture can fit in the space and do not be afraid to get creative! Throw down an outdoor rug, set up a seating area (or even a hammock or maximum relaxation) and hang up some lights to make your outdoor space as comfortable as possible, day or night.
