If you are thinking about buying a home, going to open houses is a great way to get a feel for the local real estate market. For many first-time home-buyers, finding open houses can seem like an unwanted stress. In reality, the process is actually pretty easy! Take a look at these four simple ways to find open houses near you.

1. Browse the web

Technology has been a saving grace for the real estate industry. In today's ago you can easily search for open houses on any major real estate website, including our own here at Crye-Leike. By visiting http://bit.ly/Crye-LeikeExecutiveRealty-OpenHouses, you can search our currently available open houses and apply filters to fit your home-search requirements.

2. Social Media

Using social media can be a great way to find open houses in your area. For example, if you are an Instagram or Facebook and search #openhouse followed by the city you are looking to move to, you will find hundreds of posts from real estate agents with open houses in that area. It is also a good idea to browse individual real estate agents' social media pages. Many agents will post listings, open houses, just sold homes and much more on their social media.

3. Take a stroll through the neighborhood

If you are not super interested in searching through social media or websites, you can always try finding open houses the good ole' fashion way - by driving through a neighborhood and keeping an eye out for that "open house" sign. This works best if you have your heart set on a specific neighborhood already. If you do not seem to find any open houses, but you see that a home is for sale, then you can use the tips above to find out if there will be an open house in the near future.

4. Rely on your agent

If you are serious about house hunting, hopefully you have already chosen a trusted Realtor to help you. Let them do their job and find open houses for you! The agent you choose should be considered an "expert" in the neighborhood you are looking at. This means they will be able to find compatible open houses and avoid ones that will be a waste of your time. You definitely do not have to go through this process alone.
