Not sure what to do with that empty room in your house? Have no fear; there are plenty of ways to transform that room into a useful space. Every other room in your house already serves a purpose, so before you decide what to do with your bonus room, think about what you and your family will benefit from the most. What purpose do you want that room to serve? Here are some of the coolest ways to turn that drab space into something fabulous.

1. Classroom

If you kids will be doing virtual schooling this year, now is the perfect time to turn your bonus room into their own classroom. Not only will it give your children a sense of normalcy, but it will be super fun to decorate as well. The key to making your own classroom is to use plenty of storage and keep things organized. Shop around for a desk, add some cubbies, put up some educational posters and voila, you have a classroom!

2. Home office

Your kids are not the only ones who need their own work space. Having a designated room for your home office will make the best work-from-home experience. There are plenty of ways to spruce up your home office, but you ultimately want to create a place where you can focus and be productive.

3. Home Gym

Don't want to pay for a gym membership or weekly studio classes? Make your bonus room a space for getting healthy. You do not have to spend a ton of money on equipment if you search around sell/swap pages and take advantage of store sales. Having this space can be great for those who do not have the time to travel to a gym or attend long workout classes.

4. Home Theater

Create a cozy space for your family to watch movies together. Mount a large flat screen TV, or even use a classic projector to screen your favorite films. Throw in a couple of reclining chairs, beanbag chairs for the kids, a popcorn machine and you are all set! With a countless number of streaming services at our fingertips, and the perfect setup at home, you might never have to go to the real movie theater again.

5. Pet Room

Do you love your furry or scaly friends and think they deserve a room of their own? Well, you are not the only one. Many people have transformed their bonus rooms into the perfect place for pets. Set up beds, cages, toys and other pet accessories to make your pets feel even more at home and to keep that pet clutter out of your other rooms.

6. Game Room

Set up your pool or foosball table, get out the gaming consoles, and turn your bonus room into the ultimate gaming space! You can purchase organizers for all of your board games, and find a card table to play on. This will be the perfect room for your friends and family to enjoy.
